History Part XIII Earth A.reD.ux.jpg

"As you know, I have been playing with Jerry Only from The Misfits and Dez from Black Flag, but I've decided that four years is enough. The last shows I will be doing with them will be in Mexico. So I won't be on the next European tour with them. I give Jerry and Dez the best of luck."~Marky Ramone, March 2005

With Marky out, Jerry Only once again turned to Robo; he had already spent a 20 months drumming for the Misfits™, April 2001-December 2002, but this time he would no longer be sharing the position with Marky RamoneThe Misfits™ began touring once again on June 2nd, 2005 and this line up went off and on touring until December 2009.

The Misfits™ (2005-2009)

During the Blackest of the Black 2005 Tour Glenn invited Doyle to join Danzig onstage for mini-Misfits sets.  The tour ran from September 30th through October 29th, 2005.  The other bands on the bill were Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, Mortiis and The Agony Scene.

Doyle began auditioning members for his new band, Gorgeous Frankenstein, that year as well and Glenn offered to produce their debut album.

In 2006 Jerry released the Psycho in the Wax Museum 7" single; the release featured two songs recorded by The Misfits™ during the American Psycho recording sessions.  Both, Angel Baby and Death of the Fallen Angel were instrumental as Michale Graves had never recorded vocals for the tracks.

Danzig performed in Australia for the first time since 1989 during 3 shows in September 2006; Glenn also performed a set with Hank III on June 6th, 2006 at Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA.  The third Blackest of the Black tour kicked off on November 17th, 2006 and ran through the 30th of that month.  This go around the bands on the bill were Lacuna Coil, The Haunted, Belphegor, Asesino and as with previous festivals, Danzig headling.

Danzig performed a handful of dates in 2007 beginning on October 23rd and running off and on through November 8th.  2008 brought another Blackest of the Black tour begining on October 9th and running through November 10th; the bands on the bill were Danzig, Dimmu Borgir, Moonspell, Winds of Plague and Skeletonwitch.

On October 27th, 2009 The Misfits™ released their first new material since 2000's Famous Monsters, the Land of the Dead 12" single (and digital download).  The two songs on the release, Land of the Dead and Twilight of the Dead were both written (lyrcis/music) by Jerry Only.  The end of that year brought the end of Robo's tenure with the band.

On December 26th, 2009 at Starland Ballroom in Sayerville, NJ former Misfits™ vocalist Michale Graves joined Gorgeous Frankenstein on stage to perform vocals on 4 Misfits™ tracks; at the time former Misfits™ drummer Dr. Chud was in the band as well, making this a 3 quarter reunion of The Misfits™ '95' line-up.  The reunion also came as the band was opening for Danzig during their tour; Michale Graves was supposed to appear in full makeup but in the end showed up moments before hitting the stage and left out the back door immediately after his appearance.

This note was made possible by Misfits Central, James Greene Jr.'s book This Music Leaves Stains as well as various Misfits interviews.  As always thanks to all the fiends (and photographers) that have provided all the photographic history.
