"Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Michale Graves, I'll be replacing Michale Graves for the evening.", "Excited I get to come back and sing it [Saturday Night] for you...unless anyone else wants to?", Michale Graves upon returning to the stage on October 21st, 2000 at The Palladium in Worcester, MA after Zoli Teglas was invited onstage to perform 5 songs.

According to Michale Graves he had also recently learned that he was going to be fired from the band after their Halloween tour.  On October 25th, 2000 at House of Blues in Orlando, FL the '95' line-up of The Misfits™ ended.  Right before they played Saturday Night, Michale announced, "This is my last tour with this band, my last show is gonna be on Halloween.".  Doyle left the stage during Don't Open 'Til Doomsday and after the song Michale followed Doyle offstage to see what was going on, as Dr. Chud had left as well.  Jerry asks, "Do you guys know 138?", Michale begins, "Hey, I know nobodies gonna understand this but....", Jerry then asks, "You done Doc?", the only reply is Michale stating, "Yeah it has come to this.".  Jerry Only finished the show playing bass and performing vocals on We Are 138; a song which he announced was dedicated to Greg MathewsMichale Graves was fired backstage and Dr. Chud decided that he was done and quit; all of this culminated from years of issues that members had with Jerry.  Without skipping a beat, The Misfits™ continued on with the show recruiting Zoli Teglas again on vocals (Jerry would also perform vocals during several of these shows) and various drummers Eric "Goat" Arce (Murphy's Law), Matt Cross (Orange 9MM) and Ken "Renfield" Schalk (Candiria); former Misfits drummer Joey Image also made appearances at 2 Florida shows.  These shows from October 26th, 2000 at Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, FL continued until November 26th, 2000 at Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, PA.

Michale and Chud immediately formed Graves; with Tom Logan on guitar and Left Hand Graham on bass.  They released one album titled Web of Dharma (May 31st, 2002) and did two U.S. tours before dissolving (September 2002) due to conflict between Mike and Chud.  Michale Graves went on to form Gotham Road (2002-2004) before going out under his own name (2005 to present) and Dr. Chud formed Dr. Chud's X-Ward (2003-present) at that time.

After a 4 1/2 month quiet absence, The Misfits™ returned to the stage on April 8th, 2001 at Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA.  The Caiafa brothers were still together joined this time by Dez Cadena (Black Flag) along with drummers Eric "Goat" Arce (first half of set) and former Misfits/Black Flag drummer Robo (second half of set and encore).  The set list was comprised of Misfits songs Glenn wrote along with a handful of Black Flag songs.

Prior to the dissolving of The Misfits™ '95' line-up Jerry had been making plans for Joey Ramone to make quest appearances for a planned 25th Anniversary tour; Joey had become increasingly ill due to lymphoma and passed away on April 15th, 2001.

On April 18th, 2001 the 25th Anniversary Tour was officially launched at The Roseland in New York; the set up was very similar to the April 8th show but Marky Ramone was added on drums along with Michale Graves making a guest appearance to perform on several American Psycho and Famous Monsters songs.  During an after party at WWF NY Jerry, Marky and Dez performed several Ramones songs and Monster Mash; eventually Robo and Michale Graves joined for some classic Misfits tunes.  The tour continued until December 21st, 2002 at Jaxx in Springfield, VA but not without a few hiccups.  Michale Graves continued on the tour following the initial launch until May 13th, 2001 at House of Blues in New Orleans, LA; Doyle left the band the same night that Michale Graves performed his last show with them and Marky dropped out for a show on May 9th, 2001 at Pop's Annex in Sauget, IL.

"My brother wanted to go in a different direction, basically with him singing [following the departure of singer Michale Graves in 2000]. He didn’t want to get Michale or [drummer] Dr. Chud back in the band, and he didn’t want to get a new singer or a new drummer. I can’t sell you something if I don’t believe it, know what I mean? If I don’t believe it, how can I make you believe it? So with him singing…let’s just say it’s not my taste."~Doyle, Guitar World, 2014

"Jerry Only's long awaited Misfits Side-Project..The release is truly unique and not to be perceived as a traditional Misfits album but rather a special project."~Misfits.com

Glenn created the Blackest of the Black in 2002 and Danzig performed at both shows on May 2nd and 3rd, 2003; the other bands on the bill were Superjoint Ritual, Opeth, Nile, Lacuna Coil and Behemoth.  Danzig performed several more shows in 2003.  A planned 2004 Blackest of the Black tour was eventually cancelled; The bands announced for the tour were Mayhem, Devil Driver, Death Angel and Eyes of FireDanzig of course was set to perform as well along with special guest Doyle during mini-Misfits sets; the two managed to put this together during 3 shows (December 28th-30th) in 2004.

"In 2004 or so, Glenn’s personal assistant Crazy Craig, left me a message to tell me Glenn wanted to talk to me, so I called him, and Glenn asked me if I wanted to go on tour with him, and I said, “Yes, I do.”~Doyle, Slugmag, 2013

"He'd [Doyle] left the Misfits and he was talking about how he wasn't happy with all that and eventually we started talking and it all just came about," says Danzig of the shows he did with Doyle earlier this year. "He didn't want to stop performing, he just didn't want to perform with the karaoke thing that was going out."~Glenn Danzig, Prick Magazine, October 2005

"We've [Doyle and Glenn] remained friends.  When he left Jerry, we ended up talking about him possibly coming out [on-stage with me] and doing some [Misfits] stuff.  I thought it would be a cool idea.  We didn't push it.  This was about a year and 1/2 ago.  He had already left that new Misfits thing...Anyway, we did a couple of shows [last year] where he came out and it wa sreally cool.  We both enjoyed it.  It was really pure.  About 2/3 thirds of the way into the Danzig set, Doyle comes out and we just blare into a full-on Misfits set.  It's crazy...Last time, some of the songs we played were '138', '20 Eyes', 'Skulls', 'Hatebreeders', and 'Earth A.D.'.  A couple times we did 'Devil's Whorehouse'.  We did 'She' once or twice...All stuff people want to hear."~Glenn Danzig, Super7 Magazine, 2005
