Evilive II (EviIIive)
During the 1997 leg of The American Psycho Tour, The Misfits began recording shows for inclusion on a live album. A total of seven shows were used for the songs on the final release, the first of those shows took place on October 31st, 1997 at The Palace in Los Angeles, CA and the last was on March 10th, 1998 at the White Rabbit in San Antonio, TX.
According to a 1999 interview by Stephen Gorny for compzine.com, Jerry Only stated;
We put [Evilive II] out to save the Fiend Club, which was getting too big to just send stuff out to people for free...and we didn't want to not run it, cuz the kids like being in it. So we did the Evilive II cd to finance the Fiend Club. I think we're gonna redo it for [the mass marketplace], and the first one will have been just for the Fiend Club. Doc made this one and the recording is half-assed to be honest with you, but he did it from the heart and it helped save the club.
Evilive II opens with an instrumental track written by Dr. Chud entitled Creepy Church. The music was recorded in December 1996 and was produced/engineered by Dr. Chud; he also performed the keyboards and piano as well. Creepy Church would be used off and on throughout 1997-2000 as intro music for the The Misfits™ live shows.
The album is comprised of 13 tracks that were found on The Misfits™ debut album, American Psycho, as well as a handful of Misfits (1977-1983) material.
The first five tracks and track 8; Creepy Church, Abominable Dr. Phibes, American Psycho, Walk Among Us, The Hunger and Last Caress were from the Halloween night show in Los Angeles, CA, 1999.
Tracks 6, 7, 9, 12 and 19; From Hell They Came, Speak of the Devil, Dig Up Her Bones, Hate the Living, Love the Dead and The Haunting were from November 8th, 1997 at the Ogden Theater in Denver, CO.
Tracks 10 and 14; American Nightmare and Don't Open 'Til Doomsday were from November 11th, 1997 at Bohager's in Baltimore, MD.
Tracks 11 and 16; Day of the Dead and Where Eagles Dare were from November 5th, 1997 at the La Luna in Portland, OR.
Tracks 13 and 17; Shining and Bullet were from March 10th, 1998 at the White Rabbit in San Antonio, TX.
Tracks 15 and 18; This Island Earth and Vampira were from November 14th, 1997 at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland, OH.
Track 20; Die, Die My Darling was from November 11th, 1997 at the First Avenue Club in Minneapolis, MN
Although Glenn had sole ownership of the Misfits (77-83) music Jerry included songs from that era stating in a 1999 compzine.com interview with Stephen Gorny;
Well the problem was Glenn was supposed to pay my brother $90,000 after two years and we had to sue him again to get it. I figured if Glenn wasn't going to hold up his end of the contract why the hell should I? Let him turn around and sue me and I'll just tell the judge; "Hey, I had to hire another lawyer and chase him around for two years to get the money he was supposed to pay out in the first place.".
It probably helped that the cd was a limited Fiend Club only release and was not a mass marketed product.
Approximately 4000 copies were distributed; 1000 copies with blue and black CD and 3000 copies with black and white CD.
